Volunteer Opportunities: Veterans and First Responders
Elysium Acres invites active-duty military, veterans, and first responders to volunteer at our horse sanctuary. We recognize the immense sacrifices made by those who serve our country and communities and the unique challenges they face. With this in mind, we believe that volunteering with horses can provide a powerful tool for improving mental health. This is particularly true for individuals who have been exposed to traumatic and stressful situations.
Research
Despite the limited awareness of volunteer opportunities specifically designed for those recovering from occupational trauma, research strongly supports the mental health benefits of equine-assisted activities. Recognizing this, Elysium Acres is uniquely positioned to address this gap through our innovative volunteer program.
Research shows that interacting with horses reduces stress, anxiety, and depression. Specifically, we believe that individuals who have experienced high-stress environments such as veterans and first responders would benefit greatly through volunteer work. Additionally, volunteering with horses can boost self-esteem, improve social skills, and enhance well-being. At Elysium Acres, active duty service members, veterans, and first responders will have the opportunity to connect with horses, nature, and a supportive community.
