Horses

No. Volunteers or visitors cannot ride the horses at Elysium Acres. Our horses have worked hard their entire lives and now deserve a peaceful retirement where they can relax and enjoy their golden years.

Our horses arrive from a variety of circumstances, including retirement from fulfilling careers in law enforcement, but also from sad situations such as neglect and abuse. We partner with recognized rescue facilities such as New England Equine Rescue – North (NEER) and New Hampshire SPCA, whose primary focus is rescuing horses from dire situations. By offering these horses a loving home, we not only improve their quality of life but also support the essential work of these rescue organizations by saving horses in need.

We currently provide sanctuary to seven equine residents and intend to expand our capacity to twelve.

Yes, we board horses who live among our sanctuary horses.

Volunteer Program

We are immensely grateful to our wonderful volunteers! Our volunteers who work directly with our horses help with daily care, including feeding, watering, and grooming. Other volunteer tasks around the farm include stable maintenance, fieldwork, administration, fundraising, and outreach.
