Charlie Brown
Charlie Brown has certainly lived an extraordinary life! Born around January 2010 in the mountain ranges of Three Fingers, Oregon, Charlie and his mother roamed free in the wild among a herd of mustangs until his capture on August 8, 2011. The Federal Bureau of Land Management kept Charlie, along with hundreds of other captured mustangs, in holding pens until May 2014.
At this time, Charlie was transported to Pennsylvania to prepare for the Extreme Mustang Makeover Challenge. This annual contest challenges 100 contestants to tame a wild Mustang in 100 days. The goal is to have each horse domesticated so they may be adopted into a better life beyond deferral corrals – check out the documentary about the challenge, Wild Horse, Wild Ride, on YouTube. Upon his completion, Charlie’s owners sold him and he relocated to New Hampshire.

Charlie is a Bay Gelding with a gorgeous black mane and tail. He has a star marking on his face, and white coronet markings on his right and left hind legs. While his favorite pastime is eating, he also enjoys having play dates with other horses. Also, he finds riding with friends on trails a lot of fun. Charlie is a very smart boy and enjoys participating in obstacle clinics. But, don’t ask him to participate in riding rings – he finds those so boring! Charlie had even been to Hampton Beach! Though he was not sure of what to make of the ocean waves coming at him.
From his wild beginnings in the mountains of Oregon to his peaceful retirement in New Hampshire at Elysium Acres, Charlie Brown has finally found his happy ending. Barb
